Plot[]

1x05-1

Willie brings the phantoms to the Hollywood Ghost Club

At the Hollywood Ghost Club, whose exterior is a large, white hotel-like building with a cross-gabled roof. Inside the 1920's style decorated club, Reggie, Luke and Alex look over the crowd. Reggie expresses his doubt over meeting another ghost. Alex tries to reassure him, but admits to his own nervousness. Luke, determined to get his revenge on Bobby for stealing his songs and not giving credit, tells the two to grow up.

Willie teleports next to the trio and leads them downstairs to the main part of the club. The phantoms then discover that the crowd of what they thought were ghosts were actually lifers who paid a lot to "get a sneak peak at the afterlife." The maitre'd leads the group of four to a table in the front and center, one with a great view of the stage.

1x05-2

Caleb performs The Other Side of Hollywood.

Charming and a showman, Caleb Covington is floating as he begins his performance of The Other Side of Hollywood. In the middle of the song, Caleb makes his house band appear onstage and later his other dancers appear on top of the tables, to the surprised delight of the crowd. The performance concludes and the phantoms join in on the standing ovation.

Alex realizes that Caleb was the man who bumped into him outside The Orpheum on their first night out as Ghosts in Wake Up. Reggie realizes he was the magician who died "a horrible death" performing a magic trick. Caleb appears behind the boys, welcoming them to the club. He inquires after the trio' power to appear to lifers while they are performing with Julie, and Luke confirms but says they can't do magic like he does.

At the dance at Los Feliz High School, Flynn is DJ-ing the music and Julie is with her fake hologram projector waiting for Luke, Reggie and Alex to show up. Flynn mentions to the crowd that the Julie and the Phantoms band will perform later. Julie is surprised at the new name, "Julie and the Phantoms (band)". Flynn explains she thought of it in French class and already registered the name in various forms of social media.

1x05-3

Flynn DJ's the school dance.

Flynn quickly disappears when Nick walks up to Julie to talk to her. Nick admits that he's been waiting to hear her play again since first hearing Bright, as the song had been stuck in his head for weeks. Carrie interrupts the pair's conversation, sniping about the bored crowd and Julie's lack of sophistication. Nick shoots an apologetic glance at Julie before following Carrie back toward the gym floor.

Nick tries to persuade her to relax, commenting on Flynn's good DJ-ing. Offended, Carrie asks what Nick's deal is about Julie and Flynn. Nick continues to try to convince Carrie to have fun at the dance, but Carrie refuses with a remark that amateur night isn't her idea of fun. Frustrated, Nick goes alone to get a drink. Meanwhile, the boy who plays cello spots a girl with glasses at the other side of the bench. Julie continues to wait for the phantoms, visibly more nervous.

1x05-4

Willie explains to Alex about the Club

Back at the Hollywood Ghost Club, Alex expresses how crazy the club is. Willie confirms that the lifers can't tell the outside world about ghosts, but remains vague about how Caleb keeps them quiet, only remarking that Caleb has offers "the opportunity to experience this for eternity" and that they've all "happily accepted." Willie tells Alex how great it is to have fun forever rather than cross over.

Luke realizes that Alex has a crush on Willie and expresses his happiness for him. Caleb interrupts the trio's conversation and the boys then ask him to make them visible so that they could confront Bobby. Caleb obfuscates on answering and instead offers the phantoms the chance to join his house band, asserting that when they perform by themselves, there is no real glory or connection with the audience. Luke is visibly more interested after hearing this. Caleb entices his offer, stating that his house band performs all over the world, from Hollywood to Paris. The ghost magician leaves the trio, but not before gesturing to the waiters to serve them hamburger sliders, meatball subs and pizza. The three phantoms are shocked at the fact that at the club they could actually eat.

1x05-5

Nick encourages Julie to perform

At the dance, Flynn is stalling for Julie, who refuses to perform without the phantoms. Nick sits down next to Julie and she gives the excuse that the hologram machine is not working. Nick reaches for it despite Julie's half-hearted protest, and he plugs it in to see that it lights up perfectly. Nick, thinking that Julie was using the machine as an excuse not to perform because she was scared, encourages and compliments her music. Julie smiles and Nick immediately goes to introduce Julie to the crowd. Put on the spot, Julie uses the excuse of bad wifi and an inability to connect with the phantoms as to why she can't perform

Carrie insults Julie and tries to take advantage of the situation by playing Dirty Candy music. Flynn immediately breaks a knob on the music playing equipment, much to the crowd's dismay. Carrie, undeterred, invites everyone to a party at her house, everyone at the dance happily leaves to continue the party.

The phantom trio are still eating at the club. Caleb then performs another rendition of The Other Side of Hollywood, one with more instrumental solos and scatting that is meant for club visitors to join in dancing. Willie joins the other ghosts in dancing to the song. The boys are pulled into dancing and in the chaos, while Caleb silently dismisses Willie from the club. Caleb then moves aside, to show Willie that Alex is dancing with two guys. Alex notices Willie, and motions him over. Heartbroken, Willie runs away. With the end of the song, midnight strikes.

1x05-6

Caleb gives the phantoms his stamp

It is then that Luke realizes that the three of them completely forgot about Julie and their gig at the high school dance. Caleb catches them before they leave and Luke has to straightforwardly refuse to join his house band. Caleb tells them the club is open to the trio if they still want to get revenge on their friend. The three ghosts agree they would like to come back and with that, Caleb shakes their hand, imprinting a "club stamp" onto their forearm. Not thinking much of it, the three boys leave.

Willie appearing just as Alex leaves, hesitantly approaches Caleb about the stamps on the boys arm. Caleb dismisses Willie's concerns with the statement that the three boys were too powerful as ghosts to not have in his employment. He states that with the stamps, they'll have no option but to accept his invitation to his house band.

1x05-7

Julie is disappointed that the phantoms lied to her and left her hanging

Julie is left humiliated and worried about what trouble the phantoms could have gone into. Flynn goes to get ice cream from the cafeteria, with a brag about how admin gave her the keys. The phantoms finally arrive and immediately apologize to Julie for leaving her, only then go on to lie about it having nothing to with getting revenge on Bobby. Julie, feeling angry, abandoned, and humiliated, quits the band.

Left alone in the gym, Alex, Luke and Reggie feel a painful jolt, visibly cringing in pain. Reggie likens it to feeling like they were dying.
