Kayla is a side character in the Netflix original series Julie and the Phantoms. She is a part of Dirty Candy, Carrie's music dance group. She is Carrie Wilson's Best Friend. She is portrayed by Victoria Caro.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Kayla attends Los Feliz High School along with Julie, Flynn, Nick and Carrie. She is a dancer in Dirty Candy. Her performance costumes and wig are purple, and it is her signature color.
As Carrie's friend, she is shown to be on her side in terms of confrontations with Julie. However, she does not seem to have the same hostile feelings.
Season 1[]
Kayla performs the song Wow with Dirty Candy at the school's spirit rally. During Julie and the Phantoms' performance Reggie is seen winking at her while he is performing. She smiles back at him and Carrie gives her a weird look to stop. Then Kayla frowns while watching the rest of Julie and the Phantoms' performance.(Bright)
After Julie and the Phantoms are done performing Bright, Kayla is the first to assume that the phantoms were holograms and asks Julie about it. Later, she is seen arguing with Carrie about something and Reggie asks her for her phone number even though she can't see him.(Flying Solo)
Kayla performs the song All Eyes on Me with Dirty Candy at a cafe, Eats & Beats, populated with record executives.(Finally Free)

Not much is known about her personality but she seems to be smart or at least smart enough to know what Holograms are when she asks Julie if Alex, Luke, and Reggie are Holograms. She is a very talented dancer.

She is of Asian descent. She is seen wearing a Short Pastel Purple wig during Dirty Candy's performances. She has oval shape Brown eyes and Light Tan skin.

It seems that Reggie has a crush on Kayla as he is seen to be asking her for her number and he told Julie to tell the girls he is single

- Kayla's signature color is purple. We have not seen her natural hair within the show, but the natural hair color of the actress that plays Kayla, Victoria Caro, is black.
- Kayla has a very brief flirtation with Reggie that consists of making eye contact while he is performing while she is in a crowd of people.
- Kayla is the only member of Dirty Candy besides the lead singer Carrie Wilson whose name has been revealed so far.
- Kayla was the one who asked Julie Molina if the Phantoms were holograms.
- Kayla's signature color is Purple because Victoria Caro said in interview that she got to choose Kayla's signature color. Victoria said that she choose Purple as Kayla's signature color because her favorite color is Purple in real life.[1]
- Kayla's actress Tori Caro, is also the show's assistant choreographer and worked on much of the show's choreography, both in planning and in teaching it to the main cast members.
