You can't get rid of me, I'm like the crazy glue of best friends.
— Flynn to Julie in Unsaid Emily

Flynn Taylor is a deuteragonist in Julie and the Phantoms. Flynn is Julie's best friend and is one of the few people who knows the truth about the Phantoms.

She is portrayed by Jadah Marie.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Flynn was born sometime between 2004-2005. Not much is known about Flynn's childhood or her home life.

At age 6, Flynn met and became best friends with Julie, during this time they decided that they were going to be in a duo when they got older that Flynn named "Double Trouble". Julie didn't agree to the name, but it was made unofficially official when Flynn got Julie a t-shirt with the name in seventh grade.

She attends Los Feliz High School along with Julie, Nick and Carrie Wilson. She is part of the school's reputable music program.

After the death of Julie's mother, Flynn was one of the only people Julie didn't shut out, Flynn was there to help her through it all. This lead to Julie writing a poem for her.

Season One[]

(Wake Up)[]

Flynn was concerned for Julie's place in the music program and if her friend will continue her passion for music. In one deleted scene, Flynn is seen trying to convince Julie to show them that she can sing. But Julie runs off in tears.

(Bright)[]

After Julie and the band perform Bright, Flynn is angry at Julie for lying about her secret hologram band to her. Julie tries to tell Flynn how the hologram boys were actually the ghosts of Sunset Curve, but Flynn did not believe any of it. Flynn told Julie that she was going to text her dad Ray Molina if whatever she was going to show her didn't explain what was going on. Flynn's heavy skepticism disappears with the performance of Flying Solo when she sees the boys perform and interact with her without any camera/hologram nearby.

Anger gone in an instant, Flynn is touched by the performance and quickly becomes supportive of the band—although quite clearly still Julie's best friend, asserting that Julie wasn't joining Sunset Curve, Sunset Curve was joining Julie's band.

Flynn quickly assumes the role of Julie and the ghosts' band manager, taking charge of their social media (mentioned in the show as including Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and YouTube), booking them a gig at their school dance, and supporting them at their gig at the cafe Eats&Beats in Finally Free. (Flying Solo)

(I Got the Music)[]

Flynn is the DJ of the dance, continuously stalling for Luke, Reggie, and Alex to arrive so they can perform with Julie. This is the first time the name "Julie and the Phantoms" was used. To Julie's surprise, Flynn explains that she came with it in French class and that she couldn't protest because it was now their handle on all social media. Flynn at one point tries to get Julie to perform by herself, insisting that she would rock it with or without them. Julie refuses to perform without the phantoms, believing that they will arrive soon. When Carrie tries to take advantage of Julie's humiliation and play Dirty Candy music at the dance, Flynn immediately breaks a knob in the music equipment. When everyone at the dance leaves to go to Carrie's house, Flynn is left to comfort Julie as she bemoans not ever showing her face again at school. Flynn comments this was just typical of boys and tries to cheer her up: insisting that they'll crash at Flynn's house and leaving Julie to go get ice cream from the cafeteria. She brags that the administration let her have the key for the night. Flynn leaves, missing the late entrance of the phantoms in the gym. (The Other Side of Hollywood)

(Finally Free)[]

The next day after the school dance the night before Julie shows up to dance class late and gets mad at Flynn for not waking her up for school because they had a sleepover after the dance.

(Edge of Great)[]

Flynn arrives at Julie's house because of a text Julie sent her. Julie, finishing her doodle, shows her drawing of an explosion, with a quip that every one good about her life just "BAM" implodes. Flynn assures Julie that she'll always have her by her side, and then quips the drawing would be a cool album cover.

Flynn reaches down to fix the sweater Julie had been wearing all episode to place in Julie's mom's trunk. Flynn then finds a bedazzled Sunset Curve t-shirt in the trunk, much to Julie's shock. After Julie explains that the guys didn't know who her mom was, Flynn proposes that Julie's mom, Rose, was a fan of the band. Julie confirms that it is possible, as Sunset Curve was playing the Hollywood club scene around the time her mom was there. Flynn, a hundred percent approving of this theory, supposes that Julie's mom knew all along that the phantoms would be able to get Julie to play music again. Julie is more than skeptical that her mom is controlling things instead of just straightforwardly sending her a message. Flynn argues that her mom is telling her things through signs, citing the fact that Julie just found out that Rose had a Sunset Curve t-shirt despite going through the trunk many times. Flynn becomes a bit indignant at Julie's continuing skepticism ("You're in a ghost band, it's a crazy world.")

Flynn tries to get Julie to see the reality of the situation and the importance of helping the phantoms cross over. ("You're gonna lose them no matter what. And it sucks. But they helped bring you back to life. Now it's your turn to help them.") (Unsaid Emily)

(Stand Tall)[]

Background[]

Personality[]

Flynn is grounded, loyal, and a very assertive person, who values honesty and her friendship with Julie.

She was fully skeptical of the idea of ghosts before she saw them with her own eyes. While she grew to enjoy the idea and appearance of the three boys, as well as the music they made with Julie, Flynn is consistently focused on the fact that they are dead and are intangible, unlike Julie who has the benefit of seeing and regularly interacting with them.

Her loyalty is apparent in her support of Julie through her mother's death, as well as the moments when Carrie tries to dismiss Julie. This loyalty and easy-going behavior only wavers when she feels she is treated badly, as seen in Flying Solo when she attempts to egg Julie's house to keep secrets from her. It also leads her to be intolerant of bullies. This is shown through her hostility and dislike towards Carrie, more so than even Julie, who is often a target of Carrie's insults.

Flynn was always pushing Julie to not be shy, and tell Luke how she truly felt about him.

Flynn's self-confidence leads her to take initiative, oftentimes applying her creativity and hard work (signing up Julie's band for the dance without permission, handling the band's social media, organizing a garage party for their Edge of Great concert, etc.).

Physical Appearance[]

Flynn is 5 feet and 2 inches tall (157.48 cm). She has dark brown eyes, long black hair she wears in braids, and brown skin. She has a colorful wardrobe and often wears skirts with shorts underneath and fashionable hats. She wears many bracelets on both wrists, woven and beaded. She wears a rainbow choker and a small gold padlock on a chain, along with other various necklaces and statement earrings.
