— Caleb to the boys in Stand Tall
|
Caleb Covington is the overall main antagonist in Julie and the Phantoms. He is the owner of Hollywood Ghost Club.
He is portrayed by Cheyenne Jackson.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Not much is known about Caleb Covington other than he lived in the 1920's and died before 1995 (as Reggie knew who he was) and that he died a horrible death performing one of his magic tricks. He was presumably a good performer in life and famous, assumed by the fact that Reggie knew who he was and that he appeared on magazine covers.
Sometime after his death, he formed the Hollywood Ghost Club. The club's purpose is so that rich and famous lifers (non-dead people) can get a glimpse of the after-life.
Season One[]
Caleb bumped into Alex outside The Orpheum. (Wake Up)
Caleb approaches Nick after Julie and the Phantom's performance at the Orpheum and possesses him. (Stand Tall)
Personality[]
Caleb Covington is a very manipulative individual. A natural showman, Caleb has the flair of the dramatic and theatrics within the Hollywood Ghost Club, probably stemming from his background as a famous magician.
Moreover, Caleb is shown to be power-hungry and controlling, as he is shown to be obsessed with incorporating Luke, Reggie, and Alex in his house band and under his control because of their ability to be seen by lifers when performing, as well as his behavior towards Willie, one of the ghosts under his control. His willingness to force the boys into doing what he wants reveals his immoral character.

Trivia[]
- It's implied that Caleb possibly died in the 1920s. Not only are all of the female dancers in his club dressed like flappers, and the stage design of the Hollywood Ghost Club appears to be of the Roaring Twenties, but there is also a magazine cover with him on it dated November 1921.
- He once made a deal with a wise man that gave him a offer he "couldn't refuse", as mentioned in the song "You Got Nothing to Lose".
